About Laura and Robert Sams
Laura Sams and Robert Sams are a sister/brother creative duo -- writers, musicians, filmmakers, zoologists and educators. They have worked together as “Sisbro” since 2001, creating media that inspires people to laugh, learn and explore their world.
Laura and Robert have created stories and music for PBS KIDS, Sesame Street, the Smithsonian Channel, the Jim Henson Company, NBC Universal and Animal Planet. They recently created the new series Mega Wow on PBS KIDS, designed to get kids get excited about doing science at home. They are also award winning songwriters who wrote the music for the new season of Teletubbies on Netflix, and they have written music for Dinosaur Train, Hero Elementary, Elinor Wonders Why and Splash and Bubbles. Their children’s book, A Pirate’s Quest, won the Midwest Book Award for Best Children’s Picture Book.
Laura and Robert are passionate about the ocean, and they created “The Shark Riddle” film to share the incredible, surprising world of sharks. Their “Great White Shark Song” is a hit with kids and families around the world. They love visiting schools to share their shark assembly, which inspires kids to write and create stories based on the incredible world around them!
Sisbro’s work has been honored with over 75 national/international awards, including a Parents’ Choice Gold Award, a National Parenting Publications (NAPPA) Gold Award, a KIDS FIRST! Best of the Year Award, a Wildscreen Panda Award (often called the Green Oscars), a Mom’s Choice Award, and Best Children’s Program at the top natural history film festivals in the country, including the BLUE Ocean Film Festival and the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival.
Laura and Robert are seasoned performers who have performed for over 150,000 children and parents through live events featuring their work, from the Monterey Bay Aquarium to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History to international schools in Dubai to hundreds of schools in the United States.
