Riddle WINS National Parenting Publications Award
SISBRO STUDIOS’ THE RIDDLE IN A BOTTLE WINS THE NATIONAL PARENTING PUBLICATIONS’ 2009 CHILDREN’S PRODUCTS COMPETITION GOLD AWARD
Picked as a DVDs and Videos Gold Winner for Ages 5 and Up
Portland, OR – November 8, 2009 –Portland-based Sisbro Studios announced today that its latest wildlife, family friendly film The Riddle in the Bottle has been awarded The National Parenting Publications (NAPPA) 2009 Gold Award under DVDs and Videos for children ages 5 and up.
NAPPA is the "go-to" source for parents and professionals looking for the best children’s products and resources. The NAPPA recognition means far more than simply a "good-enough" seal of approval. It signifies that a product has been rigorously evaluated against stringent criteria by expert judges and family testers, and that it stands out among hundreds of similar products from around the world. Now in its 19th year of serving families, the NAPPA seal has come to symbolize innovation and high quality that parents trust. Only the most select products win the prestigious NAPPA award.
“We are honored to be amongst the winner’s circle of the National Parenting Publications awards competition,” said Laura Sams of Sisbro Studios. “We produced The Riddle in the Bottle with the entire family in mind, and this prestigious award helps validate that we met our goal in creating a high-quality, entertaining, educational film that the entire family can enjoy.”
NAPPA's team of independent judges involve input from parents, children and professionals working with children to name the most entertaining, appealing, safe, educational, age-appropriate and enduring products as NAPPA winners.
We laughed, we hummed along and, most importantly, we tried to figure out the riddle. A movie that made us think and discuss. It was fun!” an adult juror said about The Riddle in a Bottle.
I really liked watching the little turtles. It was neat to see them come out of the sand and go to the ocean,” said a seven-year old child on the children’s jury.
Throughout The Riddle in a Bottle, siblings Laura and Robert Sams, called The Riddle Solvers, struggle to solve a mysterious riddle from the ocean found floating in a magic bottle on an inland lake. They receive clues from sea turtles, tide pool creatures, pond animals and even a singing pirate who share how moving water plays an important role in their lives. This lively mix of mystery, music, humor and vivid animal footage helps children understand how they are connected with oceans no matter where they live.
The Riddle in a Bottle is the first episode of an educational series called The Riddle Solvers, in which Laura and Robert Sams solve riddles about nature. Sisbro Studios has partnered with the Save Our Seas Foundation to film the second episode, which will be about sharks.
Our goal is to create a truly unique, beautiful and hilarious show about sharks, showcasing their amazing diversity, as well as their importance for the ocean’s ecosystem,” Robert Sams said. The Riddle Solvers: Sharks is due to be completed by the summer of 2010.
