Pirate-Themed Posters To Encourage Reading

When we visited Maire Elementary in Michigan to do a March author visit, the school surprised us by having a poster contest to encourage reading. Every year the school has a reading contest to raise money for the March of Dimes, and this year, they kicked it off with our author visit and a poster contest. The students were encouraged to create posters that encouraged reading skills, inspired by any theme in our book or movie - pirates, sharks, octopus, frogs, etc. We were privileged to judge the contest, and there were some very good entries, as you will see here.
